Notes Agnetha appeared on this Swedish TV special, a little like "This Is Your Life" but without all the guests from the past. Host of the show was Hagge Geigert and special guest was Agnetha's father, Ingvar Fältskog. This was the 50th show of the series.

Agnetha sang live versions of her early solo hits and was made to do odd things like cut an onion without crying while singing "Om Tarar Vore Guld"! She also had to play some piano and identify some road signs.

Hagge died 14 February 2000.

Notes Frida is interviewed by Hagge Geigert and, like all his guests, is made to do some strange things.

In this programme, Frida has to do a tie up for Hagge, pick a coin up from the floor without bending her knees and sing a song (a little bit of "Ring Ring" in Swedish!).

A rare clip of Frida performing "Söderhavets Sång" is shown.

Stikkan 50

The ABBA members were among the guests attending the birthday party at Stig's big house in Stockholm. ABBA arrived at 7 am. Björn and Benny went into Stikkan's villa Ekarnes through the window. The first present for Stikkan was a little cabaret with dance performed by among others Agnetha Fältskog, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Görel Hanser, Lena Ulvaeus and Lillebil Ankarcrona. They sang songs especially written for Stikkan. The party continued a whole day.

HOVAS VITTNE/TIVEDSHAMBO

FRAGMENTO:

Swedish lyrics:

HOVAS VITTNE

Från Hova kom
det en bonnläpp det svängde om
Släpa och slet och snodde
och sen så småningom
på dur och moll
blev han rikare än ett troll
Nu är hans dagar fyllda
utav tunga beslut
Lukas ska ut
Backen ska saltas
korven ska kokas
Lukas ska ut

Hovas vittne knallarnas röst
Västergötlands stämma på jorden
Sångarhjärta klappar i ditt bröst
pennan glöder, upp flyga orden
Raska klackar slå ännu
som ett jehu är du
Hovas vittne ger aldrig upp
Hovas vittne
Full fart framåt flaggan i topp

Hos dig på fest
när man sitter och trivs som mest
hör man någonting som surrar
en dammsugareprotest
Från den Parnasse
tar du flyget i första klass
Djurgården Honolulu
om du kommer fram
enligt program
med ditt bagage i Rom
och Gudrun i Amsterdam

Hovas vittne knallarnas röst
Västergötlands stämma på jorden
Sångarhjärta klappar i ditt bröst
pennan glöder, upp flyga orden
Raska klackar slå ännu
som ett jehu är du
Vi och du är långhalm och ler
Full fart bakåt
Hovas vittne, vad som än sker

Stikke-Stikkan
Det är befogat denna gång
Trots att du tycker att låten
blir för lång
Stikke-Stikkan
Det har vi skrivit i den tron
att du blir glad om vi höjer
en halv ton

Hovas vittne knallarnas röst
Västergötlands stämma på jorden
Sångarhjärta klappar i ditt bröst
pennan glöder, upp flyga orden
Raska klackar slå ännu
som ett jehu är du
Hovas vittne ger aldrig upp
Hovas vittne
Full fart framåt flaggan i topp

Hurra!

English lyrics:
(Songs like this can't be translated directly, as there are many word gimmicks/tricks in the Swedish lyrics).

HOVA'S WITNESS

From Hova came
a swinging country bumpkin
Dragged, pulled and sought out
and then so gradually
in major and minor (keys)
became richer than a troll
Now his days are filled with hard decisions
Lukas has to go out
The bacon is salted
The sausage should be boiled
Lukas has to go out

Hova's witness, the salesman's voice
Västergötland's voice on the earth
A singer's heart beats in your chest
The pen glows, up flies words
Swift heels beat still
You are like a hurricane
Hova's witness never gives up
Hova's witness
Full speed ahead
The flag to the top

You're with him at his party
You're sitting there and like the others are happy
You hear a buzzing noise
a vacuum cleaner protests
From your Parnassus
you take a first class flight
from Djurgården to Honolulu
If it goes forward and you get there
according to plan
your luggage is in Rome
and Gudrun's in Amsterdam

Hova's witness...
...like a hurricane
we and you are like straw and clay
full speed backwards
Hova's witness, whatever happens

The 'Stick' Stikkan
It's justified this time
in spite of the fact that you think the song
is too long
The 'Stick' Stikkan
We wrote it because we believe
that you will be pleased if we raised it
one half note

Hova's witness...
...flag to the top

Hurrah!

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stig 'Stikkan' Erik Leopold Anderson (né Andersson) (25 January 1931 – 12 September 1997) was born in Hova, Sweden, and is best known as the manager of the pop group ABBA.

As well as being the manager of the Swedish supergroup, Anderson was also the founder of the Polar Music record label. Initially beginning his career as a chemistry and mathematics teacher after leaving school at the age of 15,[1] Anderson soon migrated to the Swedish music scene, becoming a music producer, manager and also occasional performer. He had begun writing songs as early as 1951, and in 1959 he got his breakthrough with the song "Är du kär i mig ännu, Klas-Göran?" ("Are You Still In Love With Me, Klas-Göran?"), written for Swedish singer Lill-Babs. During the 1960s he was one of Sweden's most prolific songwriters, producing more than 3,000 published titles. Anderson also founded Sweden Music in 1960, as well as several other companies. By the late 1960s, he was the manager and producer of Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson (the two main songwriters of ABBA), joining the careers of these two after Anderson managed the Hootenanny Singers. Later in 1972 he began managing Anni-Frid Lyngstad, and finally in 1976 Agnetha Fältskog (until December 1975, Fältskog was still bound to Cupol/CBS Records under a contract). In the early stages of ABBA, Anderson co-wrote a large part of the songs' lyrics, among them some of the band's biggest hits, such as "Ring Ring" (1973), "Waterloo" (1974), "Honey, Honey" (1974) , "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" (1975), "Mamma Mia" (1975), "S.O.S" (1975), "Fernando" (1976), "Dancing Queen" (1976), "Knowing Me, Knowing You" (1977) and "The Name of the Game" (1977).

Anderson was one of the dominant figures behind ABBA, representing their commercial interests and global success through successful record deals. At the same time, he also managed the investment of funds and the enormous financial incomes of Polar Music. In the mid 1980s a considerable part of ABBA's fortune was, however, lost by mismanagement, bad investments, high demands for tax and the rise of credit rates. Three of the four ABBA members terminated their relationship with Anderson when it was revealed that Anderson had taken a percentage of profits at a value of 4.5 million euros over the course of many years. A complaint against Anderson was submitted to the Stockholm District Court in June 1990 by Agnetha Fältskog's company Agnetha Fältskog Produktion AB, Benny Andersson's company Mono Music AB, as well as a Dutch company holding Björn Ulvaeus' rights. Anni-Frid Lyngstad sold all her shares in the Polar Music company in 1982 as she moved abroad. The dispute was settled out of court in July 1991; the terms of the settlement remain undisclosed.

In 1989, Anderson made a substantial financial donation and founded the Polar Music Prize. The following year, shortly before the ABBA members took him to court over royalty back payments, he sold the Polar Music company with nearly all utilisation and license rights and the registered ABBA trademark for an unknown sum of money to PolyGram. Previously, Anderson licenced ABBA and the members' solo releases to various labels worldwide as a way to earn more royalties. In 1998, PolyGram was in turn sold to Seagram and merged into what is now one of the Big Four record labels, the Universal Music Group, the company that today holds the rights to the entire ABBA back catalogue.

Anderson's daughter, Marie Ledin (wife of Swedish star and ABBA concert backing vocalist Tomas Ledin) started a new, highly successful record label in the mid 1980s, Record Station (sold to German BMG in the early 90s), followed by Anderson Records, which released Anni-Frid Lyngstad's Swedish comeback album Djupa andetag in 1996 as well as Michael B. Tretow's Greatest Hits in 1999.

Stig Anderson was married to Gudrun Anderson, and also had two sons, Anders and Lasse. On September 12, 1997, at age 66, Stig Anderson died of a heart attack. [1] His funeral was broadcast live by Sveriges Television, an honour otherwise only reserved for distinguished statesmen or royalty.

ONE MAN, ONE WOMAN ( Letra )

No smiles, not a single word at the breakfast table
Though I would have liked to begin
So much that I wanna say, but I feel unable
You leave and slam the door
Like you've done many times before
And I cry and I feel so helpless

One man, one woman
Two friends and two true lovers
Somehow we'll help each other through the hard times
One man, one woman
One life to live together
One chance to take that never comes back again
You and me, to the end

Outside I can see the sun through the open window
Inside everything feels so cold
What's wrong, what is happening, where did all our love go?
Sometimes when I just can't cope
I cling to a desperate hope
And I cry and I feel like dying

One man, one woman
Two friends and two true lovers
Somehow we'll help each other through the hard times
One man, one woman
One life to live together
One chance to take that never comes back again
You and me, to the end

Daydreams of a better life, but I have to wake up
The sound of the key in the door
You smile and I realise that we need a shake-up
Our love is a precious thing
Worth the pain and the suffering
And it's never too late for changing

One man, one woman
Two friends and two true lovers
Somehow we'll help each other through the hard times
One man, one woman
One life to live together
One chance to take that never comes back again
You and me, to the end
You and me, to the end

ABBA - SOS (Seaside Special)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTCIeRTM548

info and video by:
abbafanglosuk

Abba visited England from September 30 - October 2 1975 to appear in Seaside Special at Torbay in Devon. This was a popular summer show broadcast every Saturday evening in the mid 70's from different seaside resorts in the UK. The main stage was in a circus tent. The shows featured a variety of music and comedy acts.
Guests on this edition were female impressionist Janet Brown, theme song singer Mike Batt and Lulu. Other guests were Des Lane, Kenneth McKellar and Dailey and Wayne. Abba were introduced by popular DJ Tony Blackburn and performed Waterloo to playback (recorded outside earlier) and their new single SOS live. The girls wear their very short cat dresses here and do a very nice dance routine.
SOS was Abba's first major hit in Great Britain since Waterloo 18 months earlier. It was catchy and well arranged, with Agnetha's pleading lead vocals capturing the imagination of listeners. The characteristic guitar and synthesiser rifts that run throughout the song were only added at the last minute, when Bjorn and Benny were staying back in the recording studio late one night.
SOS was recorded on August 22-23 1974 at Glenstudio, Stocksund. It was first released on the album "Abba" in April 1975 and then as a single in June 1975. It reached No.1 in six countries, and No.2 in five more. It peaked at No.6 in the UK, despite a belated September release. The song stayed in the German charts for more than seven months, having reached No.1 there.

Lyrics: Benny Andersson, Stig Anderson, Björn Ulvaeus
Lead vocal: Agnetha

Where are those happy days, they seem so hard to find
I try to reach for you, but you have closed your mind
Whatever happened to our love, I wish I understood
It used be so nice, it used be so good

So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me
SOS
The love you gave me, nothing else can save me
SOS
When you're gone, how can I even try to go on
When you're gone, though I try how can I carry on

You seem so far away, though you are standing near
You made me feel alive, but something died I fear
I really tried to make it out, I wish I understood
What happened to our love, it used be so good

So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me
SOS
The love you gave me, nothing else can save me
SOS
When you're gone, how can I even try to go on
When you're gone, though I try how can I carry on

So when you're near me, darling can't you hear me
SOS
And the love you gave me, nothing else can save me
SOS
When you're gone, how can I even try to go on
When you're gone, though I try how can I carry on
When you're gone, how can I even try to go on
When you're gone, though I try how can I carry on

FRIDA´S GRANDMOTHER - STORY OF LOVE

. sábado, 19 de diciembre de 2009
0 comentarios

ENTREVISTA A FRIDA SOBRE HÉROES / Frida interviewed about heroes

¿Has hecho algún curso?
- No, no realmente.

1. Why do you want to be a member of the Swedish Heroes jury?
– There are many everyday heroes, but most of them stay anonymous. To be a part of recognizing the heroes is going to be an important process for me and a reward in itself.
2. Define the word hero in three words.
– Heart, consideration and courage.
3. Is it some times forgiveable to turn a blind eye when someone is suffering?
– It depends on the situation. Perhaps if it means that you can get harmed yourself you have think through how to act. But spontaneously I would say that most people would like to lend a helping hand.
4. Many victims of accidents are brought back to life with CPR. Have you taken such a course?
– No, not even an avalanche course, even though I ski so much. But these kind of courses should be mandatory in school. Just like courses in humanity.
5. Can you remember a situation when you didn't intervene and you regretted it?
– No, not really. I'm known to be a straight forward woman who isn't afraid to speak my mind.
6. Why is it important to recognize everyday heroes?
– Because most of them never are recognized, even though they are almost everywhere, even in very small circumstances. If you recognize heroes more heroes are born. The heroes can bring out what is in all of us.
7. Who is the hero among heroes for you?
– My grandmother Arntine Lyngstad who took me and moved to Sweden when I was two years old. She had no idea of what to expect. She had style, feeling and pride. It is not until I've gotten older that I have realised what a great achievement she made.

ABBA's Benny Andersson Talks Hall of Fame Induction, Band's Reunion Prospects

ANDY GREENEPosted Dec 15, 2009 5:53 AM

ABBA's journey: classic photos of the pop icons.

Was the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nod for ABBA something you thought about or expected to happen?
I'm surprised. It's quite wonderful. I didn't think this would happen, because we were a pop band, not a rock band.
Did you speak yet to the rest of your group about it?
No. Only to Björn [Ulvaeus]. We meet maybe once a week to talk through things. I haven't spoken to the girls, but I know they're happy. I believe that a band that is inducted to the Hall is supposed to do a performance, but I don't think we can do that. Agnetha [Fältskog] is not flying, so I don't know how she's going to get to New York. And we haven't done anything together in 30 years. It's a difficult one. But, again, but you should never say never, you know?

I've seen reports in the papers that you turned down a billions dollars to reunite.
I've seen that, too. But to tell you the truth, I don't know. I haven't seen it in writing. I really doubt it, if you ask me. Who would pay that? We were supposed to do a year and a half of X number of concerts, but we never even contemplated going into negotiations because we didn't want to do it.

Why? Do you think it's just best left to memories of how it used to be?
I think so. Don't you? The people who are really fond of ABBA for what we did, I think we are doing them a favor by not going out. We all feel the same. It's been too long of a time. It's been almost 30 years. There is no reason. I can't understand the bands that reunite, because there will always be a reason, whether it be economic reasons or the fun of it... being on the stage again. We don't have that.

Back in the '70s when you were making all these songs, did you think they'd have this afterlife?
No way. You don't think in those terms. You try to do your best with each song and then you release it and you hope for the best and then you hop on to the next one. It's quite incredible, I can see now that the kids, young children, between five and 15 knowing all these songs, singing all these songs all of a sudden. It has a lot to do with Mamma Mia! I'll tell you one thing. No one thought of this in the '70s.

It seems ABBA that is more lucrative now than in the band's heyday.
I don't know. The back catalog is constantly selling and the whole Mamma Mia! thing from the first musical theater production through the movie, obviously that has generated a lot of money, but I cannot say. We are doing well. I'm just grateful being in this situation. Again, you don't think these thoughts when you are sitting down to write a decent pop song. It takes a while to write good stuff. But you aim to do your best with some sincerity and the outcome — you can't tell until afterwards. It's like putting on a Broadway production. No one knows anything until after the opening night.

There have been reports about a possible sequel to Mamma Mia! Are they true?
It's not as far as I know. I know Universal Pictures wouldn't mind, but the thing with Mamma Mia! is that it's so cleverly put together by Catherine Johnson using the old, original lyrics. And she succeeded in doing that. I don't think there are another 20 good-enough songs. And even if they were, I don't think the lyrics would help her to create another story. There might be some other way we can sort of continue the collaboration between us, the bunch that sort of created Mamma Mia! in the first place, but maybe it could be sort of something else, related only by the fact that it's the same people behind whatever it is coming out.

The Swedish pop group Abba, 1960s Brit-rock pioneers The Hollies and reggae legend Jimmy Cliff will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland in March, the Hall of Fame Foundation has announced.

The Stooges, nominated and subsequently rejected seven times, and Genesis also got the nod. They'll be joined by U.S. entertainment industry mogul David Geffen and seven songwriters: Barry Mann and Cynthia Weill, Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry, Jesse Stone, Mort Shuman and Otis Blackwell.

But Kiss and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, thought to be frontrunners on the short list, did not make the cut.

"It's quite wonderful," Abba's Benny Andersson told Rolling Stone magazine. "I didn't think this would happen because we were a pop band, not a rock band."

But he said the group is unlikely to reunite for a performance at the 25th annual concert and ceremony on March 15 at New York's Waldorf-Astoria Hotel.

"Agnetha [Fältskog] is not flying … And we haven't done anything together in 30 years," he said.

Abba Just Like That ( Nanana Version, 1982 )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AysIdXv3Ow

Superb unreleased song Abba recorded in May 1982. This is known as the Na Na's version because of Agnetha's excellent distinctive background vocals. Agnetha still looks beautiful even after a hard day's singing. As she sings in TDBYC "I need a lot of sleep, I like to be in bed by 10." Goodnight Agnetha. See you in the next song.

"Just Like That" Is One Of A Group Of Unreleased Songs By ABBA. It Is One Of The Group's Last Recorded Songs, And Features Agnetha Faltskog On Lead Vocals And Anni-Frid Lyngstad On Backing Vocals. It Has Caused A Lot Of Interest And Hype Among ABBA Fans, And Is Considered By Many To Be The "HOLY GRAIL" Of Unreleased ABBA Songs!
"Just Like That" was originally penned by ABBA composers Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus in May 1982, and recording sessions began that same month. "Just Like That", along with a handful of other songs, were recorded with the intention of compiling them on a brand new studio album. However, Benny and Björn lost interest in "Just Like That" after several failed attempts at recording it, and decided in early June to put the "Just Like That" tapes aside.
In 1994, Benny and Björn allowed a small 2 minute snippet of "Just Like That" to be released as part of the ABBA Undeleted medley, compiled by producer Michael B. Tretow, on the Thank You For The Music box-set. The snippet revealed a few of the song's saxophone riffs, courtesy of Raphael Ravenscroft (who also worked on Gerry Rafferty's hit "Baker Street" in 1978), and the song's second and final choruses. The entire first and second verses were left out, as was the first chorus. If anything, the release of this snippet has only caused fans to want the full version to be released even more.

ABBA "Just Like That"; The Story of an unreleased ABBA Song

ABPianoBA
So, I decided to make a movie, which contains every step of composition of the song "Just like That" by ABBA. The first part is the version called "Slow Version". The second part( with a different Intro) is the "Na, Na ,Na Version". The third part is the last version of ABBA and is called "Sax-Version". All these Songs were recorded in 1982. The fourth has another chorus, this song`s called "When the waves roll out to sea" and has been recorded in 1983. The Fifth part is a Chess demo sung by Elain Paige. This version contains another verse.
The sixt part is the finall version of "Just like that" sung by Gemini in 1985. In the oppinion of Benny and Bjorn is this the final and best version, but i think, the ABBA Versions are bettter. Hopefully they will release the song. ( The quality isn`t good, because these songs are just Demos) Enjoy....
