Waterloo (1974)
How the Abba story all began, in Brighton at the Eurovision Song Contest – and can you believe us Brits gave their first UK No 1 'nil points'?
Ring Ring (1974)
Re-released after Waterloo, this had been Abba's original Eurovision entry in 1973, a year before their great success.
I Do I Do I Do I Do I Do (1975)
An absolute classic now but it wasn't all plain sailing for Abba with this single which stalled just inside the Top 40.
SOS (1975)
A haunting melody and the song which kick-started Abba's career in the UK after the previous two singles.
Mamma Mia (1975)
This second No 1 in the UK came complete with an iconic pop video as we saw the now famous four faces 'back to back'.
Fernando (1976)
Originally written for Frida's solo career, this song reached Number One in the UK and was a big hit across the pond in the US too.
Dancing Queen (1976)
Probably the only pop song premiered at a royal wedding - which is how false rumours spread that it was about the King of Sweden's new bride.
Money Money Money (1976)
Featuring Frida's dark, sultry vocals, it was said that by 1976 Abba were now Sweden's second biggest export industry after Volvo.
Knowing Me Knowing You (1977)
For the first time Benny & Bjorn were writing about relationship splits in a band made up of two couples who would both eventually divorce.
The Name of The Game (1977)
The first Abba song to be sampled in the Noughties (by the Fugees) - a tribute which helped lead to the band's second wind in popularity before Mamma Mia.
Take A Chance On Me (1978)
Abba's biggest-selling song in America came to Bjorn while out running – the "tk-a-ch" sound being something he sang while jogging!
Summer Night City (1978)
With a nod to the disco era, this song came complete with a video shot in their hometown of Stockholm.
Chiquitita (1979)
A long run of No 1 hits in the UK came to a temporary end for Abba when this song was kept off the top spot by Blondie's Heart of Glass.
Does Your Mother Know (1979)
The only single with lead vocals from Bjorn, the song became a favourite with (and covered by) REM.
Voulez Vous (1979)
Was this Abba's raunchiest song ever? Certainly it was considered "five minutes of unabashed sex-drenched magic" by the NME at the time.
Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) (1979)
The intro to this upbeat classic was to fuel Madonna's No 1 hit Hung Up in the years to come.
I Have A Dream (1979)
This was the only single with vocals other than Abba featuring on the track – the Stockholm Children’s Choir take a bow!
The Winner Takes It All (1980)
One of pop's tenderest break up songs ever, with lyrics written by Bjorn for his former wife Agnetha to sing.
Super Trouper (1980)
Abba's ninth and last UK No 1 was about life on tour - a super trouper being a massive spotlight used on stage.
Lay All Your Love On Me (1981)
The first 12-inch single ever to reach the top ten, the song was released just as Benny and Frida's marriage came to an end.
One of Us (1981)
A Christmas hit, the song peaked in the No 2 slot – meaning that tenth UK No 1 would prove just elusive.
Head Over Heels (1982)
Made the Top 30 in spite of Abba producer Michael Tretow having a prolonged attack of hiccups in the studio during recording!
The Day Before You Came (1982)
The last song Abba ever recorded, Agnetha sang her unforgettable lead vocal on this haunting tune in a suitably darkened room.
Under Attack (1982)
Boasting a sound inspired by The Buggles' Video Killed the Radio Star, Abba found a hit sound for the Eighties.
Thank You For The Music (1983)
Now one of Abba's most famous songs it was only released as a single six years after it was recorded – originally forming part of a 'mini musical' on Abba – The Album.
