50 years after ABBA’s international breakthrough at the Eurovision Song Contest, when the band won for Sweden with Waterloo, the foursome want to celebrate this milestone together with everyone that's heading to Malmö for the Contest in 2024
For the very first time, fans will now be able to enjoy all aspects of the ABBA experience during the two weeks that the Eurovision Song Contest will be in town, in Malmö in the south of Sweden.
Opening its doors on Monday 29 April, ABBA World invites fans both old and new to explore parts of ABBA The Museum, ABBA Voyage, Mamma Mia!, Mamma Mia! The Party and Polar Music International all at once.
Spread across two floors, this mini-exhibition and pop-up experience will create a space for ABBA fans across the globe to meet, share and create memories together, while showcasing both the past and present of ABBA.
Placed in the central parts of Malmö, ABBA World will be open for visitors for two weeks only at Södergatan 28, between Monday 29 April and Sunday 12 May.

Det firas med en galakväll i SVT, som sänds från Cirkus inför publik. Den livesända tv-galan blir kulmen på en hel vecka där gruppen hyllas i SVT, men de medieskygga Abba-medlemmarna kommer inte delta i firandet själva.

Abba hyllas i SVT under hela veckan fram till lördagen den 6 april. Under galan ska "några av Sveriges mest framstående artister" uppträda och framföra gruppens klassiska låtar. Samma kväll släpps även dokumentären "Sagan om Abba", som fokuserar på perioden mellan albumsläppen "Arrival" (1976) och "Super trouper" (1980).
50-årsjubileet firas även i Storbritannien, där bland andra BBC satsar på dokumentärer, konserter och radioprogram för att uppmärksamma gruppen.

If you had figured out how to get a hologram to do your job, would you ever bother going to work again?
Probably the only people in the world who can answer that question with any authority are Abba, who have played to more than a million people in London in the past year without even having to leave the house.
It should perhaps be no surprise then, that the group have ruled out returning to the Eurovision contest for a final time when it is held in Sweden next year.
Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, the band’s main songwriters, said they would not reunite with Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad to mark 50 years since they won the 1974 contest with Waterloo.
There had been increasingly feverish speculation that the band would reform and perhaps even compete as Sweden’s entry, despite having not played together since appearing on Noel Edmonds’ The Late Late Breakfast Show on the BBC in 1982.
In a recording for the BBC’s Newsnight programme on Thursday evening, Andersson said there was “no way” the group was going to reunite or even walk on stage together during Eurovision.
“I don’t want to,” he said. “And if I don’t want to, the others won’t.
“It’s the same for all four of us. Someone says no – it’s a no.”
Ulvaeus, who also said it was a no from him, added: “We can celebrate 50 years of Abba without us being on stage.”
Their comments do, however, leave the door open to an appearance from the quartet’s “Abbatars” – digital versions of themselves, which are currently playing to sold-out crowds every night in London as part of Abba Voyage.

More than a million people have been to see the multimedia extravaganza since it opened last June in a purpose-built arena in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, many paying more than £100 a ticket.
Abba, who have sold more than 400m albums and singles, were the first Swedes to clinch a Eurovision victory. This year Loreen sang Sweden’s seventh winning song, Tattoo, having already triumphed with Euphoria in 2012.
Abba won Eurovision again in 2005 with Waterloo at a special edition of the contest to mark its 50th anniversary, but did not play live. For their last ever performance together on Edmonds’ show more than 40 years ago, they performed Thank You for the Music.
While they were in killjoy mode for their fans, Ulvaeus and Andersson also poured cold water on rumours that a third edition of the hit musical Mamma Mia! was in the works.
“People want to do it,” Andersson said. “Universal [Music Group] wants to do it. “[The Mamma Mia! producer] Judy Craymer wants to do it.”
But he insisted that without changes to the script and setting – a fictional Greek island – “there’s not going to be a next Mamma Mia! film. That’s just wishful thinking.”

Sweden's Abba fans will not be disappointed this year. 50 years ago Abba won the Eurovision Song Contest. It will be celebrated with a live gala evening on SVT this spring.
- This will be SVT's present to Abba and the Swedish people, says program manager Christina Hill.
On April 6, 1974, music and television history was made when Abba won the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo". It became the international breakthrough for the group and the rest is pop history.
SVT's gala evening to celebrate Abba takes place on the same day as the victory in Brighton, Saturday 6 April, 50 years later.

La velada de gala del SVT para celebrar a Abba tiene lugar el mismo día de la victoria en Brighton, el sábado 6 de abril, 50 años después.
- Da la casualidad de que el 6 de abril es sábado, como lo era hace 50 años. Entonces lo hemos autorizado y esa noche haremos una especie de fiesta disco para todo SVT, dice Christina Hill, directora de programas de cultura, entretenimiento y estilo de vida de SVT.
Gala en el circo
La velada de gala tendrá lugar en el Cirkus de Estocolmo ante un público. Entre otras cosas, los artistas interpretarán canciones clásicas de Abbas. SVT aún no quiere revelar quién será.
- Pero por supuesto habrá un cartel de artistas llamado duga. Hay muy buenos artistas que estarán en el escenario.
SVT ha estado en contacto con Abba y recibió el visto bueno para la gala, pero no está claro si los miembros, notoriamente tímidos ante los medios, tienen la intención de aparecer en Cirkus.

Gala på Cirkus
Galakvällen äger rum på Cirkus i Stockholm inför publik. Bland annat kommer artister att framföra Abbas klassiska låtar. SVT vill ännu inte avslöja vem det blir.
– Men visst blir det en artistuppställning som heter duga. Det är väldigt fina artister som kommer att stå på scenen.
SVT har varit i kontakt med Abba och fått klartecken för galan, men det är osäkert om de notoriskt medieskygga medlemmarna tänker dyka upp på Cirkus.
– Det vet vi inte riktigt. Vi vill uppmärksamma och hylla dem. Och visst händer det med deras goda minne och de vet att vi gör det. De är mycket varmt välkomna. Men formella inbjudningar har inte gått ut än, så vi får se.
Hela veckans firande
Abba har fortsatt att locka nya generationer fans från hela världen tack vare “Mamma Mia”-musikalen som ledde till två filmer och sedan även Abba Voyage-showen i London. De inspirerar också dagens konstnärer. SVT hoppas därför kunna bjuda på några internationella stjärnor till galan.
– Vi tänker oss att några av deltagarna kommer att vara ansikten från andra länder, säger Christina Hill.
Tv-galan från Cirkus blir kulmen på en hel vecka med att fira Abba i SVT i flera olika program.
– Det kommer verkligen märkas hela veckan i SVT att det är Abbas årsdag.
Firandet kommer passande nog för SVT där Abbagalan blir ett slags upptakt till Eurovision Song Contest som hålls i Malmö i maj.
– Det är väldigt roligt och glädjefyllt och då blir det extra trevligt att vi också ska göra en ESC-final en månad senare, så det blir en väldigt rolig vår i SVT.
