In my late teens I left Västervik, the little town of my childhood and youth, and I thought I’d never return. But somehow I did and I wanted to give something back. I wanted to build something that would last. I dreamed of creating a place for meetings between people from near and far – Slottsholmen.
Slottsholmen is many things. It’s a floating hotel with 33 superior rooms and 10 suites. A restaurant that turns local produce into fabulous cuisine. A spa inspired by ancient Roman bath rituals. A marina in the middle of town and yet a stone’s throw away from the archipelago.
It’s geothermally heated, electrified by solar cells and the water we use comes from our own desalination plant. Slottsholmen is truly striving to be a landmark for sustainability.
But above all, it’s a labour of love that will keep evolving for future generations. – Björn Ulvaeus
